The Indianapolis community is mourning the death of Ismael Velasco Juarez, who was killed Thursday morning, October 1, 2026, in a rollover crash on northbound Interstate 65 in Clinton County, Indiana.
Juarez, 24, was traveling in a Chevrolet Express van when the vehicle lost control after a trailer separated from the van. The crash ended with the vehicle rolling onto its side, resulting in Juarez’s death.

According to preliminary information from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post, emergency crews were called to northbound I-65 near the 157-mile marker shortly before 6:30 a.m.
Juarez was a passenger in a 2012 Chevrolet Express van traveling north while towing a loaded trailer.
Investigators said the trailer became detached from the hitch assembly. The van subsequently became unstable, left the right side of the interstate and entered a roadside ditch before overturning.
Juarez was ejected during the rollover and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County Coroner’s Office.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Alfredo Hernandez Manuel of Indianapolis, and three other passengers survived the crash without reported serious injuries.
